Product is quiet. I just bought at a local shop, paid $15 more. When repluging make sure you plug in as the flow of the signal. Just make sure you unplug router and modem first. Setup was simple without one problem. Was actually surprised that networking the printer thru this switch was flawless.
haven't experienced the loud fan noise that other reviews complained about, perhaps because i have mine installed in a fairly cool place. this switch works great. cant complain about anything so far.
I also purchased an APC Protectnet PNET1GB since APC BR1500LCD was only rated for 10/100 (not gigabit). If locating two switches between a device with RJ-45 surge protection, you need to make sure surge protection is rated for gigabit, otherwise switches will not connect. Bought two. Works great.
These work just great and no compatibility issues. I've been burned before using non-approved devices. Several of my computers were also Giga-bit. So when I purchased a NAS with Giga-bit it was time for new routers. The most difficult process was finding a inexpensive Giga-bit switch which was listed as compatible with both my NAS and my Sonos music players.
Hopefully, the new version will last longer. My old ver 2 box is dead. Much improved over the old ver 1 and ver 2. Biggest enhancement was the fan free design in the ver 3 box.
